Business Statistics- Correlation Analysis

The correlation analysis refer to the techniques used measuring the closeness of the relationship between variables. "Correlation analysis deals with the association between two or more variables." 1. Positive and Negative Correlation: whether correlation is positive or negative would depend upon the direction of change. i.e if as one variable is increasing the other, on an average is also increasing or if one variable is decreasing the other, on an average is also decreasing, correlation said to be positive. If on the other hand one variable is increasing, the other is decreasing or vice versa it is said to be negative correlation. e.g 1. Positive correlation: X : 10   12   15   18 20                                                      X:  80   70    60   40   30 Y : 15    20   22  25 37                                                      Y:  50   44    30   20   10 2. Negative Correlation: X:    20   30    40   60    80

Business Statistics- Range, Quartile deviation, Mean deviation, Standard deviation

Range  The range is the simple method of studying dispersion. It is defined as difference between the value of the smallest item and the value of largest item included in the distribution. Range= L-S L= Largest Item S= Smallest Item Coefficient of Range = L-S/L+S Que 1. Calculate Range and its coefficient  Sol                        Range= L-S                               L = 250                             S = 160 Range = 250-160    = 90 Coefficient of Range = L-S/L+S                                    = 250-160/250+160                                   = 90/410                                    = 0.22   Quartile Deviation Sol           Arrange in ascending order Que 2   Que 3 Mean Deviation:   The mean deviation is also known as the average deviation. It is the average difference between the items in a distribution and the median or mean of that series Que 1 Que 2 Que 3 Standard Deviation:    The standard deviation concept was introduced by Karl Person in 1823. The standard devia

Business Statistics- Mode with Quiz

The mode or the modal value is that value in series of observations which occur with greatest frequency. For example the mode of series 3, 5, 8, 5, 4, 5, 9, 3 would be 5 , since that value occurs more frequently than any of other. Q 1 Calculate Mode with Individual Observation  Q 2  Calculate Mode  Q 2  Calculate Mode Continuous Series Quiz   Find the mean of the set of data. 3, 5, 7, 9,11 A: 5 B: 6 C: 7 D: 8 Find the median of the set of data. 15, 25, 28, 30, 17 Bottom of Form A : 25 B: 28 C: 30 D: 15 The ___________ is the middle value when the data are in numerical order, or the mean of the two middle values if there are an even number of items. A: mean B: mode C: median D: range The ___________ is the difference between the least and greatest values in the set of numbers. A: mean B: mode C: median D: range The ________ is the value or values that occur most often. A: mean B: mode C: median D: range The ____________ is the sum of the items divi

Business Statistics- Median, Quartiles, Percentiles, Deciles

The median is defined as the middle value in an distribution, it is important to keep a note that before to calculate median one should arrange the frequency in ascending or in descending order for example the income of five employees is 900, 950,1020, 1200 & 1280. The mid value is   1020.  In the case of even number of series the income of six employees are 900, 950, 1020,1200, 1280, 1300. Now in the case of even values the middle values are 1020 and 1200 Median = 1020+1200/2 Median = 2220/2 Median =  1110 Q 1. Calculate median with Individual series  Q 2. Calculate median with Discrete series  Q 3. Calculate median with Continuous series  Q 4. Calculate Quartiles, Decilesand   &   Percentile   Assignment 1: DOS (14/5/21) Que 1 What is Primary data and Secondary Data and explain the difference between census and sampling  Que 2 Cal GM from the following Data  X          f 260      46 180      10  220        8 230      20 120      12 200        4 Que 3 Cal HM from the f
